About this treatment

Dipping powder is a nail enhancement system that has become a mainstay of the salon. Unlike traditional acrylic or gel extensions, dipping powder offers a different route to a durable colour finish — the nail is dipped into a fine coloured powder and sealed, rather than cured under a lamp.

KD Nails offers dipping powder on natural nails and as a dipping powder extension, using SNS dipping powder.

Who it suits

  • Anyone who wants a hard-wearing colour without a UV or LED lamp cure.
  • Natural nails that need a little extra strength.
  • Clients who prefer a slightly softer, less high-gloss finish.

In the appointment

  1. 01The natural nail is cleaned, shaped and prepped.
  2. 02A bonding base is applied to each nail.
  3. 03The nail is dipped into the coloured powder, and the step is repeated to build depth.
  4. 04The surface is filed smooth and refined.
  5. 05An activator and sealer are applied to finish.

Before your appointment

  • Arrive with clean hands and no hand cream or oil on the nail plate.
  • If you are wearing enhancements from another salon, tell us when you book — removal is charged separately and takes extra time.
  • Please arrive on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late your appointment may be given to another client.
  • Bring cash. The salon does not take card payments.

Aftercare

  • When picking anything up, try not to use the tips of your nails — stress and strain lead to breakages.
  • Always use cuticle oil to keep cuticles healthy and nourished.
  • Always wear protective gloves when gardening or doing DIY jobs.
  • Dry your nails individually.
  • Never immerse your nail enhancements in any solution you would not put on your face.
  • Some suntan lotions can dissolve and discolour nail enhancements.
