About this treatment
With gel polish you get a vibrant, glossy finish that stays looking sharp day after day. Thin layers of gel polish are brushed on and cured under a UV or LED lamp, which hardens and sets the colour instantly. There is no drying time — you leave the salon with the finish already set.
KD Nails applies gel polish (Shellac) on natural nails, and as a finish on top of extensions and BIAB.

In the appointment
- 01The natural nail is cleaned, shaped and buffed.
- 02A base coat is applied and cured.
- 03Two thin colour coats are applied, curing between each.
- 04A top coat is applied and cured to seal the colour.
- 05Cuticle oil is worked in to finish.
Before your appointment
- Arrive with clean hands and no hand cream or oil on the nail plate.
- If you are wearing enhancements from another salon, tell us when you book — removal is charged separately and takes extra time.
- Please arrive on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late your appointment may be given to another client.
- Bring cash. The salon does not take card payments.
Aftercare
- When picking anything up, try not to use the tips of your nails — stress and strain lead to breakages.
- Always use cuticle oil to keep cuticles healthy and nourished.
- Always wear protective gloves when gardening or doing DIY jobs.
- Dry your nails individually.
- Never immerse your nail enhancements in any solution you would not put on your face.
- Some suntan lotions can dissolve and discolour nail enhancements.
Gel Polish questions

KD Nails guarantees gel polish manicures for three days against chipping or lifting. How long a set lasts beyond that depends on nail growth and how you use your hands.

Please do not. Peeling removes layers of the natural nail plate. Book a soak-off instead — gel polish removal is charged from £8.

Enhancements and gel polish manicures are guaranteed for three days after your appointment. If you lose an enhancement or notice chipping or lifting within three days, call us and we will book a free repair. Repairs after three days are charged.
