About this treatment
A cosmetic technique used to lengthen and enhance natural nails. Extensions apply an artificial material — acrylic or gel — to extend the nail beyond its natural tip, giving longer, more glamorous nails, particularly for anyone with short or weak natural nails.
At KD Nails a full set can be finished with a permanent white tip, a normal colour, gel polish, a two-tone acrylic ombré blend, acrylic colour powder, or a pink, white or nude ombré. Infills and take-off-and-redo are priced separately.
Who it suits
- Anyone who wants added length or a changed nail shape.
- Short or weak natural nails that will not grow to the length you want.
- Occasions where you want a set to last several weeks between infills.
In the appointment
- 01Your existing set is removed or prepared. Soak-off of a previous enhancement is charged separately.
- 02The natural nail is cleaned, shaped and lightly prepared.
- 03Acrylic is applied and sculpted to your chosen length and shape.
- 04The surface is filed and refined to an even finish.
- 05Your chosen colour, ombré blend or gel polish is applied.
Before your appointment
- Arrive with clean hands and no hand cream or oil on the nail plate.
- If you are wearing enhancements from another salon, tell us when you book — removal is charged separately and takes extra time.
- Please arrive on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late your appointment may be given to another client.
- Bring cash. The salon does not take card payments.
Aftercare
- When picking anything up, try not to use the tips of your nails — stress and strain lead to breakages.
- Always use cuticle oil to keep cuticles healthy and nourished.
- Always wear protective gloves when gardening or doing DIY jobs.
- Dry your nails individually.
- Never immerse your nail enhancements in any solution you would not put on your face.
- Some suntan lotions can dissolve and discolour nail enhancements.
Nail Extensions questions

A full set is a new set of extensions. An infill fills the regrowth at the cuticle and keeps your existing set. Take-off-and-redo removes the current set and applies a new one. All three are priced separately on the price list.

Enhancements and gel polish manicures are guaranteed for three days after your appointment. If you lose an enhancement or notice chipping or lifting within three days, call us and we will book a free repair. Repairs after three days are charged.

Call us to book a repair appointment within five days of your service. We reserve the right to refuse repairs after that period, and we cannot be responsible for breakage or infection once you have left the salon.

Yes, if you are wearing an existing enhancement. Soak-off is charged separately — from £12 for acrylic, £10 for BIAB builder gel and £8 for gel polish.
